Review|Ulanzi Ombra Video Travel Tripod

The tripod I previously used is a little bit larger for me. It's too heavy for me to carry around. The Ulanzi Ombra Tripod just arrived on time. It's lightweight, and really affordable. I'm really impressed by its appearance as it's priced only one-tenth of its other competitors in the market. The tripod leg has a kind of hexagonal shape, and clasps that allow you to unlock the leg sections and deploy the tripod fast.

It's really compact to store in any of your travel bag. As for weight capacity, the Ombra Tripod can on 13.2 pounds at maximum. It easily carries most cameras lens.

Cam lever-locked tripod leg

Setting up the Ulanzi Ombra Tripod is simple. The cam levers on the tripod legs are easy to open and lock very securely. I tried to push in the legs when the cam lever locked, but the leg did not go in at all. The Ombra Tripod is much more stable than my first tripod when I was still a beginner.

Removable center column

The center column on the Ombra Tripod can be removed and reattached for inverted mode. This is really great for getting low angles. On the other hand, the center column can give you a little bit of extra height. At the end of the center column, is a hook for storing your bag, and giving your tripod more stability.

Built-in pan and tilt head

The Ulanzi Ombra Tripod comes with a built-in fluid pan and tilt head. The ballhead has independent locks for pan and tilt. You can use the knob to pan in a continuous range from zero to the maximum level. While the tilt can only move in a range of 180 degrees. The head is removable. You can attach any ballhead with 3/8'' threaded hole on the tripod.

Conclusion

The Ulazi Ombra Tripod is an entry-level tripod for beginners. It is everything you need from a tripod – compact, lightweight, durable, and flexible. It offers fantastic support and stability without being too heavy and difficult to carry.
