FAQ
What's the difference between the JJ05 and JJ06?
JJ06 ($299) adds 3cm of max height (187cm vs 184cm), about 200g extra weight (1.76kg vs 1.56kg), an extra -50° to +60° tilt range on the head, and a built-in screwdriver handle with 7 interchangeable bits stored on the leg. Both share the same 18kg tripod load capacity, 5kg ball head load, 5-section carbon-fiber legs, and the same Uka quick-release clamp. JJ05 is the lighter, slightly cheaper option; JJ06 is the better pick if you want the extra tilt range and on-tripod tool storage.
Is the ball head removable so I can swap in a dedicated video fluid head or geared head?
No — the ball head is integrated into the GlideGo and is not user-detachable. This is the main trade-off versus the Ulanzi Zero Y or TT09, which both let you swap the head via a standard 3/8" thread. If you need a dedicated 75mm bowl fluid head or a geared head for tabletop work, choose a different tripod.
Can the Move LightGo adjust its movement speed?
Yes, speed is adjustable via remote lever: up to 1.33 RPM (tilt) and 6 RPM (pan).
Will my Arca-Swiss L-bracket or RRS plate fit the Uka quick-release clamp?
The clamp accepts Uka plates natively and is also designed to accept Falcam F38 plates. Standard Arca-Swiss plates and third-party L-brackets fit in many cases but do not always seat fully — some users report the clamp not tightening completely on Kirk or RRS L-brackets. If you rely on a specific L-bracket, test fit before committing, or plan to standardize on F38 plates which slot in cleanly.
18kg tripod load vs 5kg ball head load — what can I realistically mount?
18kg is the structural load of the legs and center column; 5kg is the ball-head working limit. Treat 5kg as the real ceiling. That comfortably covers a Sony a7 IV / FX3 with a 24-70 f/2.8 or 70-200 f/2.8, a Canon R5 / R5 II with most zooms, and Fujifilm X-H2 / X-T5 setups. Heavier cinema rigs above 5kg will hold statically but the ball head's fluid drag becomes inconsistent.
Is it tall enough for standing eye-level interviews and walk-and-talk shots?
Yes — JJ06 reaches 187cm and JJ05 reaches 184cm at max extension. That is significantly taller than most travel tripods (Peak Design Travel Tripod tops at 152cm, Manfrotto Befree around 150cm). You can frame eye-level interviews on subjects up to roughly 180cm tall without fully extending the center column, which is the recommended setup for sharpness.
What does the dual-section articulating center column actually do?
The center column splits into two parts via a quick-twist knob. You can angle it horizontally for overhead product shots and insert-macro angles, invert it for ground-level low-angle work, or remove a section entirely to drop the camera close to the legs. It is a unique feature in the travel-tripod category — Peak Design Travel Tripod and Manfrotto Befree do not offer this.
How smooth is the head for video pans and tilts — is it a true fluid head?
The pan and tilt have fluid damping, but the drag is fixed rather than multi-stage like a Manfrotto 504X or Sachtler. Reviewers note it is good for static interviews, locked-off product shots, and slow reveals, but it is not on the level of a dedicated 75mm bowl fluid head for fast follow-pans or precision narrative work. The tilt mechanism can also jump slightly at the end of its travel — worth knowing before you commit it to high-end client work.
