FAQ
My Mac is connected to the D200X, but the buttons and knobs are not responding. How do I fix this?
Navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and toggle the switch to "On" for Ulanzi Studio.
My Windows computer is connected to the D200X, but the computer displays "USB Device Not Recognized". How do I fix this?
Please check whether the computer user is the one who installed the D200X-related plugins. If not, switching to the corresponding user.
What should I do if the screen goes black after connecting the D200X to the computer?
Open the Ulanzi Studio APP to check the connection status. If it displays "Connected", please contact us at service@ulanzi.com for assistance; if it displays "Not Connected", please replace the data cable with one that supports USB 3.0 or higher protocol and connect it directly to the computer, then check whether the computer motherboard is functioning normally. If the connection works properly with a USB 3.0 or higher protocol cable connected directly to the computer, further investigation of the D200X device issue is required—please contact customer service.
Which software is compatible with the D200X?
It supports any software that allows for keyboard shortcuts. You can also visit https://ugc.ulanzistudio.com to browse and download recommended presets for popular applications.
How to add desktop shortcuts to Deck buttons?
Windows: Set up quick applications by dragging the shortcut icons.
macOS: Click the bottom bar 【Finder】 - 【Applications】, then drag the application icon from this page.
How to use the configured custom functions on different computers?
You can click on a preset file in Settings - Preset File, then Ctrl+A (Windows) / Commad+A Select All, right-click, export the preset file in batches, send it to another computer, and then pour the preset on the new computer.
Are there any requirements for using custom configurations?
Custom configurations require the Ulanzi Studio App to be running in the background.
How is this different from an Elgato Stream Deck?
D200X is a hybrid — it has 14 LCD touch keys (same idea as Stream Deck) plus 3 stepless rotary encoders, 2 side buttons, a 5.5" main display, and a built-in USB-C dock with HDMI 4K@60Hz output, SD and microSD card readers, and 100W PD passthrough for laptop charging. Stream Deck has a larger third-party plugin ecosystem; D200X is positioned as an 8-in-1 hub that combines macro control with one-cable docking. Note: Stream Deck plugins are NOT compatible — D200X runs in its own Ulanzi Studio app with a separate plugin marketplace at ugc.ulanzistudio.com.
Does it work with macOS and Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Premiere?
Yes — any application that accepts keyboard shortcuts works via the Ulanzi Studio app. Final Cut Pro, Resolve, Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, OBS, and Logic Pro all map cleanly. Minimum OS is macOS Monterey 12.0+ or Windows 10+. Profiles auto-switch as you change the active application.
What are the 3 rotary encoders for — can I assign them to slider controls in Lightroom or Premiere?
Yes. The encoders are stepless and support both rotation and press. Common assignments: exposure, contrast, and shadows in Lightroom; jog/shuttle, audio gain, and timeline scrub in Premiere or Resolve; system volume and zoom; or smart-light dimming. Each encoder is multi-layer, so one knob can hold several parameters that you cycle through with the press action.
Can I use it as a USB-C dock at the same time as the macro deck?
Yes — this is the main differentiator vs Stream Deck. One USB-C cable to your laptop drives the deck AND outputs HDMI 4K@60Hz to an external monitor, reads SD and microSD cards, and passes 100W PD back to charge the laptop. Useful for editors who switch between laptop-only and external-monitor setups and want one-cable docking.
Can I assign macros and multi-step shortcuts to a single key?
Yes. Each key supports multi-key macros, application launches, text snippets, URL opens, and chained actions. The Ulanzi Studio app handles macro recording. Multi-page key sets let you cycle through different layouts — useful for keeping a Premiere page, a Lightroom page, and an OBS streaming page all on the same hardware.
Does it control my Ulanzi lights, Philips Hue, Nanoleaf, or Govee?
Yes — direct integration with the Ulanzi lighting ecosystem (K6500, VL-200Bi, VL-120C, and others), plus Philips Hue, Nanoleaf, and Govee. You can map keys to scene presets, brightness up/down, color picks, and on/off. This is one workflow category where D200X ships with integrations Stream Deck does not.
Can I pair it with the D100H dial controller?
Yes — they are designed as a paired system. D200X handles macros, button presses, and short-throw encoders; D100H adds a larger dedicated dial with haptic feedback for precision slider work like color grading and jog/shuttle. Both share profiles in the same Ulanzi Studio app. The bundle saves around $10 vs buying separately.
